Throughout Fall of 2011, SC-932 has overcome many obstacles, achieved many goals, and continued to produce citizens of good character. Over the course of one semester, students have had the opportunity to plan ceremonies, participate in Drill Meets, hold community service efforts, and even take a trip to Dayton, Ohio. As 2011 becomes a memory, and we welcome 2012 with open arms, it is important to remember and celebrate the many accomplishments of our cadet corps.
From the beginning of summer, cadets were exceedingly eager to volunteer with the corps, participating in efforts ranging from moving thousands textbooks at the BHS Campus to volunteering with a local assisted living facility. After the school year began, our cadets welcomed a new instructor, Lt Col John Arias, and started the semester with several projects already in the midst. The cadets held an exceptional September 11th ceremony, a successful Veteran's day ceremony, and executed a well-though out plan to increase cadet retention.
Beginning with the corps' annual September 11th Ceremony, cadets planned three community-wide ceremonies that took the meaning 'cadet run' to an entirely new level. Cadets learned the importance of timeliness, organization and most importantly, communication. These ceremonies were a gleaming success, and an exceptional opportunity for the cadets to seize, with regards to the skills that could be reinforced through hands-on learning. Overall, the population of cadets had the opportunity to participate in countless community service projects, and even more school-wide endeavors.
In the eyes of SC-932, the fall semester has been a gleaming success, and has been a positive learning experience for both instructors and students.
