Each year, HQ AFJROTC sponsors an "Academic Challenge", which is an on-line team competition held between competing AFJROTC units worldwide. The Challenge is divided into three competitions where cadets’ field SAT/ACT type questions ranging from math to English, and includes a bank of questions relating to current events. Only 16 of the competing 100 teams are selected as finalists to compete in the National Championship of the 2010 AF JROTC Academic Bowl at Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, DC April 23-26, 2010. The James F. Byrnes team cruised their way through the first two levels and have been selected as one of the 16 finalists. Congratulations to the members of the Byrnes Academic Challenge team: Ashley Cross, Sarah Sill, Dominic Hargreaves, Logan Hood, Rachel Nowak, and Erin Pennell. SMSgt Sparkman will be leading the team in their quest to bring home the “Gold”.
