During the month of February, Byrnes AFJROTC cadets have already volunteered much of their time doing community service. On Wednesdays, Honors Flight visits Ashlan Village, a local assisted living facility. Both cadets and residents enjoy their time together whether playing bingo, putting on a show with the karaoke machine, or displaying their marching skills. The visits are the highlight of the week for residents and students alike. Recently, the Corps undertook a major school service project spreading mulch around the high school campus. Participants had fun beautifying the campus while ignoring the bitter cold weather. Two full truck-loads of mulch were delivered and spread that day, with another “Mulch Day” scheduled for later this week to finish the project.
